Surging along fault shifts, time-blasted by wind, slowly shaped by water, bathed in light and shadows and colors, crumbling and tumbling down hillsides in boulders, stones, pebbles, sand. Here we try to capture attitudes of rock, as we saw them on a road trip through the Dakotas, Montana, and Wyoming.
