TwinLens is a collaborative artistic endeavor of Sara and Gerald Figal, providing a platform for explorations into the complementarity of analog film and digital photography in joint and solo projects. Sara shoots primarily analog film, which she then scans onto a Mac. Her twin lens reflex cameras include a Rolleiflex 3.5f (1959), a Mamiya C330 (c. 1970), and a Flexaret Automat (c. 1966). She also uses a Zero Image 6x9 Pinhole, a Lomo LCA, and a Holga. Gerald shoots almost exclusively digital with a Canon Digital Rebel XT. He also carries around a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX07 for point-and-shooting. Occasionally he dabbles with a Yashicamat 124G only because his father had one. Both Sara and Gerald use Photoshop (CS & CS3) and Aperture (1.5.3) on Mac platforms to adjust and organize images. They created the project galleries displayed on this site and in their corresponding books with Aperture. Gerald serves as webmaster with Dreamweaver CS3, Fireworks CS3, and Sara's inspiration as his primary tools. For information about use of any images on this site or about purchase of project books, email saragerald@twinlens.org. |
